An epic adventure taking place against the background of feudal Japan OTOGI ZOSHI chronicles the adventures of Hikaru in her efforts to save the Empire from total disaster. Starvation and disease afflict the countryside leaving bandits to rape and pillage while the politicians spend their time bickering. The Emperor senses impending doom and sends the master archer Minamoto on a quest to find the magical Magatama. But when Minamoto falls ill his sister Hikaru takes up his mantle and his quest. VOLUME THREE: BURNING THE PAST collects episodes 10-13 of the anime adventure. Hikaru has finally managed to obtain the final piece of the Magatama but upon returning home finds that she still has more battles in front of her. The warlord Shuten Doji is marching his army upon the capital and only Hikaru has the ability to defeat him.
